Prof. Dr. Meyer-Krahmer and "Green Talents" launch D4S website
The portal of the Dialogue “Sustainable Solutions – Science for Sustainability”, or D4S, was launched and is now online. The website will strengthen scientific and policy networks among Germany and major emerging economies. It will increase the visibility of sustainability science and technology and contribute to the generation of sustainable solutions through research.
The launching ceremony was held at the Forum for Sustainability (FONA) in Hamburg on 9 September 2009. State Secretary for Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Frieder Meyer-Krahmer, and the “Green Talents” - 15 outstanding young scientists in the field of environmental technology - from South Africa, Russia, Brazil, India and China pushed the red button.
“I would like to see a boost of creativity for sustainability in the years to come,” said Prof. Dr. Meyer-Krahmer in his keynote address.
The 6th FONA Forum, entitled “Research for Sustainability – One Step Further”, brought together 400 scientists, policy-makers and entrepreneurs. The forum focused on three thematic pillars: Global Responsibility, Innovation for Climate and Resources, and Sustainable Forestry. A highlight of the conference was the presentation of the Green Talent Award to the 15 international young scientists.
Further information about the event is available at the official FONA website.
